While the world prepares to celebrate the New Year this weekend, russians continue to attack Ukrainian cities.
On December 29, 2023, russia was terrorizing the civilian population and destroying the country's infrastructure by launching hundreds of drones and missiles. As a result of this attack, dozens are dead, and over a hundred are wounded throughout Ukraine, with casualties in cities such as Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Smila, and others.
Terrorism must be punished!

Appeals sent to the FCI and FCI member countries on June 30, 2023,
regarding the participation of the RKF in the meeting of the General Assembly of the ICF on August 21-22 in Geneva
Dear President,
Dear Members of the General Committee,
In light of the ongoing aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which has resulted in the tragic loss of thousands of innocent lives, including breeders, judges, and their dogs, we stand in full support of the Ukrainian Kennel Union. We echo their demand to prohibit the delegation from the Russian Kynological Federation (RKF) from participating in the upcoming FCI General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland on 21-22 August, 2023.
As per Circular 22/2022, which clearly states that RKF judges, officials, representatives, and national teams should be prohibited from taking part in any FCI-related events or commission/committee/working group meetings, we urge you to enforce this regulation without hesitation. In solidarity with the Ukrainian Kennel Union, we request that the delegation from the Russian Kennel Federation be barred from participating in the upcoming FCI General Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland on 21-22 August, 2023.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
UKU President
Dear FCI Member States,
Today, we face yet another tragic incident in Ukrainian cynology as Russia's aggression persists. A Russian missile struck our UKU department in Kherson city, resulting in the severe injury of our department head and the tragic loss of Kateryna Roitvan, a cherished employee and passionate dog breeder. This act of senseless violence also affected two kennels: the French Bulldog kennel KRON VEKAR and the Dogo Argentino kennel ESTELA BLANCO.
Kateryna, a vibrant soul with dreams of a fulfilling life in dog breeding and showcasing, had her future abruptly taken away. This loss resonates with the countless innocent lives already lost in Ukraine. However, amidst this heartache, world cynological community is preparing for the World dog show in Geneva, where Russians are invited as visitors and participants, and the Russian Kynological Federation (RKF) holds a presence at the FCI General Assembly.
We urgently implore you to demand action from the FCI leadership. Let us unite and insist on the strict enforcement of Circular 22/2022, which prohibits RKF representatives from participating in all FCI-related events, including the General Assembly and dog shows. This is not a political matter; it is about standing up for Ukrainian lives. When Russians claim neutrality, remember that Kateryna did not engage in politics either. The failure of Russian people to protest against the war and killings reveals their support for these heinous acts.
Please join us in signing the attached letter and sending it to the FCI President and General Committee. They possess the power to halt Russia's presence at the FCI General Assembly on 22-22 August, 2023, thus among democratic member states that support and respect others. By taking a stand, we honor the innocent victims of Russia's terror in Ukraine. Stand with us, for as long as Ukraine fights, your peace remains undisturbed.
We sincerely thank you for your support and solidarity during this dark and trying period in our history.
With gratitude,
UKU President,
UKU Board

Evacuation of people and animals from the flooded areas in the Kherson region is ongoing. Volunteers and civic organizations report hundreds of rescued four-legged friends. However, it is still difficult to determine the exact number of casualties.
Yesterday evening, it became known that due to a 3,5-meter rise water levels, almost all the islands within the territory of the Nizhnyodniprovsky National Park (approximately 50 islands) were submerged covering an area of about 80,000 hectares. All types of flora and fauna have suffered significant damage. Among the animals at risk of perishing are wild boars, noble deer, red deer, roe deer, hare, pheasant, beaver, muskrat.
FCI, in the face of this global catastrophe, cynology cannot remain out of politics.

It is still very difficult to assess the scale of the destruction at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station and the subsequent devastating consequences for Ukraine and Europe. However, scientists have already said that this is a problem for decades.
Those animals, who did not die immediately, have been already dying for the second day. They die not from drowning, like their brothers yesterday, but from hypothermia, hunger and fear. Rescuers continue their work day and night. But this is not enough.
The devastating effects of the disaster are causing more and more deaths. And the threat of an accident at the Zaporizhzhya NPP can increase the fatal consequences by an unknown number of times.
FCI - Federation Cynologique Internationale, cynology - not out of politics.
Nothing is out of politics when it comes to our life with you!

This early morning, russian terrorists have blown up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. As a result, Kherson and approximately 80 settlements and towns on both banks of the Dnipro River are under the threat of flooding. Both people and animals are trapped in the watery danger, and an emergency evacuation has been announced in the region.
It is already known that all the animals in the local zoo, "Kazkova Dibrova," have drowned. The number of domestic animals, including our dogs, that have died is unknown.
FCI - Federation Cynologique Internationale, are you only interested in dogs that you see at the European and World Shows? Most of the dogs from Kherson you will never see or judge. Because the russians killed them today.
